2012: Unlocking The Mayan Key Date on December 21 In Our Calendar

As we watched the Supermoon event yesterday, on May 5, 2012, which happens to celebrate also our Cinco de Mayo festivities, Lord Pakal Ahau has made an important distinction on how to witness and unlock the key date December 21, 2012 at the end of the 13 Baktuns in the Maya calendar.

Taking as a reference the research document, written by Stanley Guenter, “The Tomb of K’inich Janaab Pakal: The Temple of the Inscriptions at Palenque” (2007), he explained why he will witness the end of 4 Ahau Katun, which is precisely the end of the thirteen baktuns.

In the diagram below, he cites that in the Central Tablet of Inscriptions in K’inich Janaab Pakal’s tomb, the King of Palenque witnessed the end of Katun 12 Ahau as he will do in December 21, 2012 (Katun 4 Ahau) with compelling evidence that some of the prophecies were originally prophecies concerning the end of the 13th baktun.

We include the reference material for your study, from the link mentioned above. The red square in the glyphs diagram indicates the end of the Katun 12 Ahau, witnessed by King K’inich Janaab Pakal. We have no doubt that if King Pakal would be alive, he will commission to his Mayan scribes to register the date December 21, 2012 in new Mayan inscriptions to continue the New Mesoamerican mythology.

Literal Translation: “at the back of; 12 Ahau-ish; Katun; he witnesses it; Twenty-Year Incenser; K’inich Janaab Pakal; Divine Bone Lord”
Free Translation:  “K’inich Janaab Pakal, the King of Palenque and Twenty-Year Incenser, witnessed the end of Katun 12 Ahau.”
Discussion:  This passage merely notes that all of this occurred at the end of Katun 12 Ahau, and was witnessed by the king,  K’inich Janaab Pakal. It is interesting to see here that, almost a thousand years before the books of Chilam Balam were finally composed, already each katun was specifically named after its final day.

In addition, our Mayanist friend Geoff Stray (Dire Gnosis 2012) has written an article, “The Tortuguero Prophecy Unravelled” (2010), with a good summary on what Lord Pakal Ahau has described also in our Mayan Diaries.
