Forever Mayan 2012 – Initial Series Introductory Glyph

An example of the Initial Series Introductory Glyph can be found in the Stela C of Quirigua. This beautiful composite glyph is used to introduce the Maya Creation Date on 4 Ahau 8 Cumku (11-13 August, 3114 BC) and usually denotes the birth of our First Maya Father.

It is interesting to note that if we have to carve a new 2012 stela, we have to use the Initial Series introductory glyph as a time marker, also known as ISIG.

As Maya epigraphers, we have curated the glyph tracing a high-resolution of the diagram and giving the appropriate colors as it was perceived by the Maya scribes years ago. To order this print, click the red link to go to that particular section of our 2012 store.
